Privacy Policy

The BingerTime service is published and operated by Linkinfo. For any question about your data, or to exercise your rights: contact@bingertime.com.

Account. Email address, username, display name, password (never stored in clear text: it is hashed with bcrypt), avatar (chosen from our illustrations or uploaded), display language and country, creation date and last sign-in date. If you use “Sign in with Apple” or “Sign in with Google”, we keep the stable identifier those services give us instead of a password.

Your activity. The titles added to your libraries (series, films, games, books), the episodes and films you have watched along with their date, your ratings, rewatches, play time, reading statuses, ownership marks, favourite people and badges earned.

Social. Your friends and friend requests, your comments and reactions, your conversation messages and the book loans agreed with your friends.

Subscription. If you subscribe to Premium, we keep the plan chosen, its activation date, where it came from, and the customer and subscription identifiers provided by our payment processor. We never see or store your bank card details.

Import. If you import a TV Time archive, the file is parsed to rebuild your history. It is not kept beyond that processing.

Technical. The session tokens needed to keep you signed in and — if you turn alerts on — the notification token of each device you install the app on. We use no advertising cookie, no tracking pixel and no behavioural analytics tool.

This data serves only to provide the service: keeping your libraries up to date, working out your statistics, letting you talk with your friends, managing your subscription and keeping your account secure. The legal basis is the performance of the contract between us when you create an account, and our legitimate interest in securing the service.

We rely on a small number of providers, only for what they bring to the service:

• Stripe — processing Premium payments. Your bank details are entered at Stripe and never pass through our servers.
• Resend — sending the service’s emails (address verification, welcome, password reset, subscription).
• TMDB, IGDB and Google Books — reference catalogues for title pages. We query them to display information and posters; they do not receive your identity.
• Mistral AI — writing and reading aloud the “Where was I?” series recap. We send it the series title and the episode synopses from the catalogue, up to your last watched episode, so that it stops before anything you have not seen yet. Your identity is not passed on to it.
• Apple — delivering the notifications you have turned on, and handling subscriptions bought from an Apple device.
• Amazon — links to product pages. These are affiliate links: a purchase made through them may earn us a commission, at no extra cost to you.

We do not sell, rent or hand over your data to anyone. It can only be disclosed upon a legal request.

Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. When you delete it, the data is erased from the database immediately and entirely: libraries, histories, comments, messages, friendships and loans. Server backups may keep a trace of it for a short period, until they rotate.

Strictly accounting records tied to a payment are kept by our payment processor according to its own legal obligations.

Under the GDPR, you have a right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability. In practical terms, in BingerTime:

• Access and rectification — from the Profile tab, you can change your information at any time.
• Portability — you can export all of your data in JSON format, free of charge, with no subscription required.
• Erasure — deleting your account is available directly from the app, in the Profile tab then Account. The steps, and what gets erased, are set out on the Delete your account page.

For any request, write to contact@bingertime.com. You may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority.

BingerTime sets no cookies. We use no advertising cookie, no tracking pixel and no audience measurement tool — which is why no consent banner is forced on you when you arrive.

The website only uses your browser’s local storage, for three purposes:

• Keeping you signed in — your session tokens. They disappear when you sign out.
• Remembering your email — only if you tick the option on the sign-in screen.
• Avoiding an error loop — a temporary technical counter.

These three uses are strictly necessary for the service you are asking for: they are therefore exempt from consent, while still having to be disclosed to you, which is what this page does.

Trailers. Videos are hosted by YouTube, which sets its own trackers. They are therefore never loaded automatically: until you click “Load the trailer”, no data is sent to Google. That click counts as consent, and it counts only for that video.

Your data is hosted in France, in OVH’s data centres in Gravelines.

The providers listed in point 4 may still process some data outside the European Union — payment and email delivery in particular — under the safeguards provided for by the GDPR.

Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and cannot be read back, including by us. Access to the servers is restricted and protected.

BingerTime is not intended for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe an account was created by a child, write to us and we will delete it.

This policy may change along with the service. Any substantial change will be signalled to you in the app or by email. The last update date appears at the top of this page.
